Photorejuventation/IPL
Photorejuvenation/Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a non-invasive treatment that treats a wide range of facial concerns safely and effectively, erasing signs of skin damage with no down time. Broken capillaries, skin discoloration, sun damage, enlarged pores, small facial veins, roughness, fine wrinkles, age spots, freckles, ruddy skin, mottled pigmentation and the persistent flushing and redness of rosacea all respond well to Photorejuvenation/Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). It can be used on the face, neck, chest, arms and hands. This treatment is sometimes called a photofacial.
Typically, a Photorejuvenation/Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment regimen consists of 3 to 5 treatments, spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart, followed by a maintenance therapy of 1 or 2 treatments a year. Depending on the severity of the problem, some patients benefit from more Photorejuvenation/Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments. This approach provides gradual improvement, and very low risk.
Each Photorejuvenation/Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment takes less than an hour. Patients with more sensitive skin may use a topical anesthetic, applied 15 minutes before the procedure. A cold gel is applied to the area to be treated, and you will be given dark glasses to protect your eyes from the bright light. After the Photorejuvenation/Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment, the treated skin may be flushed and appear irritated. These initial effects usually fade within hours, but can occasionally last for a few days.
Since the redness from each Photorejuvenation/Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment is minimal and dissipates quickly, you can apply makeup and resume your normal day right from our office. Your skin will be smoother, younger and healthier looking.
